Overview:
This workshop invites mental health professionals, educators, and play therapists to explore the multifaceted challenges of play therapy in today’s diverse world. Participants will dive into core topics such as with attachment theory, which examines the foundational bonds that shape emotional and social development, and the dynamic structure of families, focusing on how evolving family systems impact play therapy approaches. The workshop also addresses inclusion in play therapy, emphasizing strategies to embrace diversity and create inclusive therapeutic environments. Additionally, attendees will explore the school/clinical interface, learning how to bridge gaps between educational and therapeutic settings. Finally, the workshop integrates these themes by looking at attachment, family systems, and inclusion as interconnected frameworks, providing a holistic understanding of how play therapy can support effective client care.

Learning Objectives: 

Participants will gain insights into historical and contemporary models of play therapy. This workshop emphasizes practical applications, offering strategies to adapt interventions for a variety of settings and populations. Attendees will:

  1. Explore how attachment theory and family systems influence therapeutic approaches.
  2. Learn to integrate inclusive practices into play therapy sessions.
  3. Understand the interaction between school and clinical environments in supporting children.
  4. To deepen their therapeutic toolkit, they engage in hands-on activities such as sand tray therapy, miniature play, and role-playing exercises.

Cost and Continuing Education: 

Play Therapy Associates of Vermont is approved by the Association for Play Therapy APT Approved Provider # 07-214 


The cost of this 6.5-hour workshop is $175 including CE’s for Counselors, Psychologists, and Social Workers.


The cost of 6.5 APT CEs for in-person Contact Training is an additional $25. 
Note: Play Therapy credit may not be awarded to non-mental health professionals. 

Workshop Cancellation and Refund Policy 

All cancellations must be made within 10 days of registration. Registered participants who provide proper notice (10 days or less) will be credited, minus a 25% workshop fee. Please email us if you have questions or need technical support.
